Kenneth M. King ("Kenny" to his Citadel buds) died on December 29, 2023 due to complications from Colorectal Cancer. He was survived by his loving wife, Ashley, and his two children, Travis and Ava. He also left behind a ton of family and friends that cared deeply for Kenny and his family.
In a note left behind by Kenny and found by his children, he wrote of a legacy that he could leave behind. He wrote, "I like to think my legacy is I always try to make everyone who crosses my path feel significant, important and appreciated. I lived with all I had and I loved with all I had."
Kenny also asked that his friends pass along a message to everyone that they could, to pay attention to their bodies and take the necessary tests their doctors prescribe. Especially, though, to get your colonoscopy when it is time....DO NOT DELAY!
SO...."The Kenny" golf tournament is being held to bring friends and family together, to raise some money for his family (Ava is Clemson Bound!), to raise awareness for Colon Screening and to let Kenny and his family know that he and they are significant, important appreciated and loved!
2 Test is 2 Prevent
More About Kenny King:
Kenny was born and raised in Charleston, graduated from Middleton High School in1991 and from the Citadel in 1995.
Ken grabbed hold of life - one that he lovingly shared with his high school sweetheart, Ashley Moore King, over their 27 years of marriage. He was the proudest father and could always be found coaching or cheering on his two children Travis and Ava. Some of his favorite moments were tailgating with family and friends at Clemson from where his son graduated and he recently and proudly learned his daughter will be attending in the fall.
Ken had an amazing spirit and drive which led him to success both as the owner of Metro Tool & Supply, Inc. as well as in his current role as Director of Sales with Freud where he was Salesperson of the Year. He never met a stranger and was known as the life of the party, someone who took an interest or saw a need and helped fill it. Whether stopping by to surprise you, helping to finish your latest home project, or hosting his beloved annual Christmas Eve celebration, Ken created lasting bonds and memories with so many. Despite a busy work schedule, he also found time to teach both lessons in baseball and life to the many players who called him “Coach” through St. Andrews Playground, Charleston Trojans, and most recently at West Ashley High School.
He will certainly be missed!
